The two largest immigrant refugee populations in the United States are Bhutanese and Burmese refugees.
A new report out by the Asian Pacific Islander Scholarship Fund concludes both groups are in desperate need for more English language training, reports Asian Fortune.
The report found that 30% of Burmese Americans live below the poverty line and 39 percent have dropped out of high school.
Similar information about Bhutanese immigrants are placed in the “other” category and cannot be disaggregated.
The study authors’ conclude the Bhutanese and Burmese refugees are among the most invisible of Asian American populations.
