Children who consistently refuse to go to school may be doing more than just acting up, they may suffer from a mental health condition, according to Dr. Esther Oh in New American Media.
It is known as school refusal and may be connected to anxiety and depression.
The psychiatrist at UCLA said the main treatment for school refusal is exposure to the fear, or school itself.
Dr Oh says the key to success is getting the child back to school as quickly as possible, even if its just one or two classes a day.
