A new bill introduced in New York would prohibit physical contact and activities during pledge ceremonies, reports Fox NY.
The bill is called Michael’s law and is named after Chun Michael Deng, who died during a fraternity event in December.
The coroner has ruled Deng’s death a homicide, but no charges have been filed.
According to Fox NY, the fraternity is accused of blindfolding Deng and making him carry a 20 pound sack of sand while they tackled him.
