It’s not often you see an Asian American athlete up for an award at any level.
Sports fans, take note.
Filipino American Jason Brickman is one of 23 finalists for the prestigious Bob Cousy Award.
The honor is given each year to the top point guard in college basketball.
Brickman plays for Long Island University and averages a double double– 10 assists and 11 points per game.
Last year Brickman’s Blackbirds won their third straight Northeast Conference title, but lost to James Madison in the 16 seed play-in game in the NCAA tournament.
Brickman is competing for the Cousy Award against players from much bigger and well known schools.
Fan voting is taking place for the Bob Cousy Award right now.
The number of finalists is expected to be reduced to five in early March.
If you want to vote, do it now.
