An editorial in the San Francisco Chronicle today accused the legislature of “caving in to ignorance and racial fears” that “should have no place in public decision making.”
The editorial said Asian American groups “fed bad advice and wrong answers” have pressured elected officials to kill a measure designed to reinstate consideration of race in admissions decisions at California public institutions.
The Chronicle specifically called out State Senator Leland Yee and Assemblyman Phil Ting for their roles in pulling the measure from an Assembly vote.
What do you think? Is the criticism fair?
