The article in KPop Starz featured 7 Asian American leading men in Hollywood.
But when I went down the list, none of them were really leading men.
It’s not that they wouldn’t make good leading me. All of them have played in supportive roles.
That’s the sad part. Hollywood doesn’t think these men could attract a wide audience.
Having an Asian American on the marquee they say would turn away the audience, not attract it.
But time after time, You Tube has proven Asian American can attract a mass audience. Just look at the millions who follow Ryan Higa, Wong Fu Productions, Kev Jumba and Freddie Wong who just signed a deal with Lions Gate.
Check out the list of leading men on KPop Starz and let us know which of those seven will get a lead role first. My money is on Ken Jeong.
It’s not that he’s necessarily the most talented of the bunch, I just think Hollywood will be more apt to put an Asian American in a lead comedic role before they cast one in a dramatic role or action flick.
What do you think? Who will be the first Asian American male actor to get a leading role?
