Shay Mitchell who plays Emily in the Fox Family show Pretty Little Liars is the niece of Tony Award winner Lea Salonga, reports the Inquirer.
Mitchell who is Filipino Canadian plays Emily, a lesbian whose best friend disappears.
“What always trips me about Shay is that she plays the tomboy in the show. But she’s by far the most glamorous of all of us,” said co-star Lucy Hale. 
Shay started her career as a teen model in such cities as Barcelona, Hong Kong and Bangkok. She got her start in TV after she returned to Toronto.
This year there’s a major plot twist evolving around her.
