San Francisco Bay Area man Steven Hayashi has been sent to jail in the death of his step grandson, reports ABC7.
Two-year old Jacob Brisbee wandered into the garage where the pitbulls were kept while Hayashi went out to play tennis and the boy’s mother was napping.
Prosecutors had argued for the maximum sentence–10 years in state prison on convictions of felony child endangerment and involuntary manslaughter. Instead the judge gave Hayashi a year in jail and three years’ probation.
You can hear reaction from Jacob’s Filipino American mother in the clip below from ABC7.
