According to Balitang America, Pope Francis will be visiting the Central Philippines next January to reach out to those devastated by last November’s Super Typhoon Haiyan, locally known as Yolanda (Photo by Jorge in Brazil).
The Catholic Bishops of the Philippines Conference (CBCP) issued a statement confirming the Pontiff’s wishes today.
Typhoon Haiyan killed at least 6,300 and left more than 1,000 people missing.
Pope Francis’ visit to the typhoon-struck Visayas region will be the second time in history that a Pope has visited the Philippines and ventured outside of Manila.
