Police in Los Angeles say three suspects fatally assaulted a 24-year old Chinese grad student from the University of Southern California Thursday, reports KABC.
Authorities say Xinran Ji stumbled to his apartment after being attacked and was found dead by a roommate.
Ji had just walked a friend home after a night of studying before the attack. Investigators believe he was struck in the head by a blunt object, but have no descriptions of the suspects.
Ji’s parents are on their way from China to Los Angeles. In 2012, two Chinese grad students also from USC were murdered in a botched robbery attempt.
The latest incident sent shock waves through the student body. You can hear more about that in the clip below from KABC.
