The Sikh Coalition has filed a Freedom of Information Act request seeking all documents and emails from the National Security Agency and the FBI that use the words “raghead” or “Mohammed” in reference to targets of surveillance.
India West reports the request comes after training manual leaked by Edward Snowden from the NSA referred to hypothetical targets of surveillance as “Mohammed Raghead.”
“The use of this epithet wasn’t surprising, and confirmed our belief that there are elements of the U.S. government that are bigoted,” Amardeep Singh, national director of programs at the Sikh Coalition said (pictured).
Freedom of Information Act requests can be long and tedious. The actual release of the information is unlikely to come anytime soon.
