A boon in fusion mooncakes is being seen in Chinatown, as the mid-Autumn festival is being celebrated across the United States, reports CCTV.
The Chinese pastry is traditionally exchanged between friends and family to mark the arrival of the harvest.
“The variety has really mushroomed into different skins, different fillings. They could be the traditional lotus seeds or the egg yolk or now you have other ingredients,” said Wellington Chen, Executive Director of the Chinatown Partnership.
Some are now stuffed with mango, green tea and even ice cream.
The popularity of the mooncake has spread beyond the Chinese community, according to some.
