The community of Isleton in the Sacramento Delta celebrated the completion of the first phase of the restoration of the Chinese community center, reports the Sacramento Bee (file photo).
The community once boasted a bustling Chinatown, but like so many others in the Delta, fell into disrepair. $600,000 was spent to bring back to life the historic Bing Kong Tong building where the community often gathered and a Chinese language school was held from 1926 until the 1940s.
You can learn more about what the restoration means to the community and what was done to the Bing Kong Tong building in the Sacramento Bee.
