In yet another indication that a Floyd Mayweather- Manny Pacquiao fight will finally happen, the Sporting News is reporting a deal is being negotiated to televise the fight on NBC.
The bout is part of a 24 fight package being put together by Al Haymon of the Hayman & Co.
Kathy Duva of Main Events confirmed to the Sporting News that her company had been replaced by Hayman to produce boxing for the NBC Sports Network.
Four of the 24 fights would be on NBC itself, not cable. One would presume a fight of the magnitude of a Mayweather – Pacquiao duel would be one of the four. Hayman is the power behind Mayweather.
“He’s promised NBC that he’s going to take his fighters off premium cable … He’s going to put Showtime and HBO out of the puzzle,” Duva said. “And he’s going to do away with pay per view and create an over-the-top network.”
