A new poll of 1,300 Asian American voters found that 45 percent identify as independent, reports the Washington Post.
37 percent say they are Democrats and only 17 percent describe themselves as Republicans. The GOP, however, can find hope in that more than one out of 5 polled have no opinion of the Republican party and 39 percent say they have a favorable opinion. Analyst say this indicates that Asian Americans can be swayed to move to the party.
The poll was conducted by Asian Americans Advancing Justice and Asian and Pacific Islander American Vote.
You can find a breakdown by age, sex and many of the Asian American subgroups including Asian Indians, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese in the Washington Post.
