Laker coach Byron Scott made the line up changes he’s been threatening to make to the starting 5 Sunday, reported Lakers Nation. He sent Jeremy Lin and Carlos Boozer to the bench and in their place inserted Ronnie Price and Ed Davis.
It didn’t help. The Lakers lost to the New Orlean Pelicans 104 – 87. Kobe Bryant and Jeremy Lin both underperformed. Kobe scored just 14 points, 11 off his average. Lin ended the night with just three points in 20 minutes. That’s 8 points less than he’s averaged all season.
“This is one of the toughest situations I’ve been in ever since I started playing the game of basketball. Trying to figure it all out” said Lin.
“Coaches coming in. It’s brand new. New everything. Team mates new. Everything. Playing with Kobe. That’s new to me. Trying to figure out everything all at once and being thrown into it…It’s a lot to try to figure out .
“It’s tough. But I believe God has me here for a reason. I just keep working.”
Lin told reporters that Scott did not discuss with him what it would take to get back into the starting 5. The coach said he would stay with the new line up at least 10-15 games.
Price, who replaced Lin in the starting unit, scored 3 points.
