Long time Mixed Martial Arts fighter Cung Le has announced his retirement, reports ESPN (2008 file photo after Le victory over Frank Shamrock).
The announcement comes months after he was defeated by Michael Bisping.
Shortly after the fight, Le was suspended for use of Human Growth Hormones, but the suspension was overturned due to problems with the testing.
“After several months of thought and discussion with my wife and family, we realize our future includes many things,” Le said in a prepared statement. “But active competition in mixed martial arts is no longer one of them. Therefore, I am officially announcing my retirement from active competition.”
Le, 42, is a former Strikeforce middleweight champion.
