Marathoner Mackenzie Loy plans to participate in the Paris Marathon, regardless of the recent Charlie Hebdo attack. According to PRI, Loy, a survivor of the Boston Marathon bombings, was also a member of the Tufts Marathon Team, one of the largest marathon running collegiate programs in the nation.
“I paused when the news first broke about [the attack], but I’ve never reconsidered my decision to run,” she says. “You can’t let outside events affect your life and how you want to pursue each day and pursue your goals,” Loy said.
Loy and her father were stopped on the course of the infamous Boston Marathon one mile from the finish. All runners were forced to leave the course after the attack. Loy will soon enter the Paris Marathon, to be held April 12.
