It’s a scam that has swept the country.
People from India posing as IRS or FBI agents call and threaten to arrest you unless you agree to pay back taxes or some fine.
The New York Post reports 36-year-old Sahil Patel has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for being the ringleader of the scheme.
Patel through his defense attorney pleaded for mercy.
“He destroyed his life, he knows that, but he didn’t do it to buy a Cadillac, he did because he was a drug addict,” said Alan Seidler.
Prosecutors said Patel bilked $1 million from his victims.
