The mother of a 20-year-old University of Pennsylvania student who says her daughter was sexually assaulted on campus is suing Amazon for selling her the cyanide she used to kill herself, reports the Daily Mail.
Their lawsuit also names the university which is accused of not providing their daughter the help she needed.
Sujata Singh immediately reported the alleged sexual assault which took place in her dorm her freshman year. Both campus police and Philadelphia police investigated. The district attorney declined to press charges.
Singh was subsequently diagnosed as severely depressed. She received counseling at school and advised to see a therapist on campus. The suit claims when she tried to schedule an appointment, she was told there was no availability and no effort was made to schedule her in the future.
Since her death, Amazon has halted the sale of cyanide through its site.
