Amy Choi and Rebecca Lehrer are self-proclaimed Mash Up Americans.
Choi is Korean American who married a Colombian Mexican American and gave birth to a child she calls a “Korombexican American”.
Lehrer is a Salvadoran Jewish American.
The two have launched a new podcast called Mash Up Americans that explores the intersection of race and culture in interracial families.
“When Amy and I met, we talked a lot about families and getting married and having kids and we realized that we had a real affinity, even though she is Korean American and I am a Salvadoran Jewish American,” said Lehrer to the Guardian.
“There was just a universality to the experiences.”
Their podcast deals with everyday issues that delve into cultural nuances such as planning a wedding or dealing with in-laws. It will also tackle controversial subject matters such as Donald Trump’s take on immigration.
