Members of the Sikh American community participated once again in the annual Tournament of Roses parade in Pasadena.
Organized by United Sikh Mission, the goal is to the emphasize the positive contributions of the Sikh community in the United States, according to the San Bernardino Sun.
“In order to do that, we need to be part of the community, and the Rose Parade is a perfect opportunity for us to celebrate with fellow Americans,” said Bhajneet Singh. “It’s an honor and a privilege to be part of the legacy of the Rose Parade, which is as American as it gets.”
It’s the second straight year United Sikh has participated in the parade. Last year’s float focused on the history of the Sikhs in the United States starting from 1899 when they began to migrate to California as laborers and farmers.
This year’s float centered around the harvest festival called Vasakhi.
You can read the significance of that in the San Bernardino Sun.
