Highly publicized anti-Muslim comments made by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump are being used by an al Qaeda affiliate in Somalia for recruitment, reports Newsweek.
A video which is 52 minutes long includes Trump calling for a database for all Muslims living in America and surveillance of mosques in the U.S.
Trump says the use of his remarks by the terrorists won’t deter him from making harsh remarks about Muslims, according to CNN.
“They use other people, too,” Trump said. “What am I going to do? I have to say what I have to say. And you (know) what I have to say? There’s a problem. We have to find out what is a problem. And we have to solve that problem.”
The video from Al-Shabaab also includes comments from the late Anwar al-Awlaki who said that Americans would turn against Muslims.
al-Awlaki was targeted and killed by a U.S. drone strike in 2011.
