The TV reboot of the popular movie series Rush Hour has been given a launch date by CBS.
Rush Hour starring John Foo, in the role originated by Jackie Chan, and Justin Hires in Chris Tucker’s role, will air Thursday nights at 10 beginning March 31.
This is one of the series I’ve been looking forward to seeing. It’ll be interesting to see how Foo will portray his role as the straight laced detective from Hong Kong juxtaposed against the more carefree detective from the Los Angeles Police Department.
I’ve written about my feeling about accents in the past, so if Foo does use one, hopefully it isn’t used for comedy sake. It’ll also be nice to see an Asian lead in a kick ass role.
According to Wikipedia, Foo is an English actor who began learning kung fu when he was eight-years-old and started serious training at age 15. Foo was raised in a martial arts family. His father is Chinese from Singapore and practices Karate. His mother is Irish from England and practices judo.
Foo’s martial arts background will give his fight scenes some legitimacy. Although Rush Hour by its nature of being an action comedy will lack the grit of AMC’s Into The Badlands, I have high hopes for Rush Hour. You might say I’m cautiously optimistic.
