UC Berkeley Law School Dean Sujit Choudhry has resigned after being sued for sexual harassment, reports ABC7.
Choudhry announced Wednesday he was taking an indefinite leave. He made his decision permanent by resigning yesterday.
His executive assistant has accused him of inappropriately touching her with bear hugs and kisses.
“Just sleepless nights, it’s a very high stressed situation and I’ve tried to cope as best as I can,” Tyann Sorrell, Choudhry’s executive assistant, said.
The university has come under intense criticism for not taking stronger action when the allegations originally surfaced. School administrators chose to ask him to take a reduction of salary and write a letter of apology instead of firing him.
The lawsuit names both Choudhry and the UC Regents.
