It’s rare that a Korean movie will open in Korea the same time it does in the United States, but they’ve made an exception for the action/Sci-Fi Korean drama, Train to Busan.
One look at the trailer and your interest is sure to be peaked.
With the popularity of Walking Dead, this zombie adventure should get some eyeballs. According to Variety, it opened to box office records Wednesday in Korea with a take of $5.76 million. In the United States, Box Office Mojo reports it debut Friday in 27 theaters and grossed $78,500.
It’s the first live action film for director Yeon Sang-ho and stars Gong Yoo, Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok and Ahn So-hee. It made its world debut at Cannes in May.
The movie follows a train full of passengers headed to Busan during a country-wide viral outbreak and an invasion of zombie hordes.
You can catch Train to Busan at the theaters listed here. Hopefully it will get a wider release as word of mouth spreads.
