Authorities in Sacramento now say 35 people have been arrested in a series of robberies targeting Asian Americans, reports KXTV.
The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department says they’ve arrested 15 in the case. This just weeks after Sacramento police say they arrested 20 people.
Both police and sheriff say they’ve seen a drop of crime since the arrests.
Crime in the city has dropped 43 percent. The county has seen a 77 percent decline.
The Asian community has organized itself since the series of robberies began and authorities increased patrols.
There has also been an increase in gun purchases.
The son of one of the Asian American victims talked to KXTV. You can watch the interview below about why he’s leading the effort to stop the crimes.
