80-20, an Asian American political organization with a strong anti-affirmative action stance, has endorsed Hillary Clinton for president, but with reservations.
Clinton was the only one of the two major candidates to answer the groups questionaire.
Clinton was endorsed by 19 of the groups delegates with reservations. Six chose other candidates.
In the end, the group came together and unanimously endorsed Clinton with reservations.
Clinton was penalized because what the group called “her lack of recognition of the unique concerns of Asian Americans including the unequal higher standards in college admissions in place for Asian Americans.”
80-20, however, favored Clinton because in its view, has a better understanding of the Asian American community.
“80-20 endorses Sec. Clinton as the better choice of the two main candidates for President for her overall stance on minority rights and the overall better record of service of the Democratic Party to Asian Americans over the last four years in comparison to the Republican record,” the group said.
Endorsing Clinton with reservations means 80-20 will not stage an all out effort to flip votes from other candidates.
