Indian American biotechnology executive Balaji Srinivasan is reportedly in the running to lead the Food and Drug Administration, reports Bloomberg.
Srinivasan was referred to trump by venture capitalist Peter Thiel who became the first openly gay person to speak at a Republican convention this past summer.
Srinivasan is credited with developing a pregnancy test to detect Down Syndrome and co-founded CounsylInc. He reportedly met with the President-elect at Trump Tower on Thursday.
The pregnancy test developed by him could be troubling for Republicans opposed to abortion. About 30 percent of fetuses with Down syndrome are aborted each year.
Gizmodo reports Srinivasan has deleted all his tweets, some of which were quite critical of the FDA.
