Rep Colleen Hanabusa (D-HI) is reportedly considering a run for governor of Hawaii.
If she does, she will go up against fellow Asian American, Governor David Ige.
Ige in his first term, has an approval rating of just 48 percent and a disapproval rating of 42 percent.
Civil Beat reports speculation of Hanabusa’s gubernatorial run has been fueled by her lackluster fundraising efforts for reelection to Congress. She’s has just $220,000 in cash compared to Rep Tulsi Gabbard’s (D-HI) $2.1 million.
Hanabusa’s consultant acknowledges she has put little effort into fundraising.
Hawaii News Now says its confirmed Hanabusa is mulling a run for governor.
“She has got a name that’s well-known, she has a powerful position,” said political analyst Colin Moore to Hawaii News Now. “She could probably raise the money.”
