This is an amazing story of life.
The wife of a New York Police Officer gunned down two years ago has given birth of his son with the help of in vitro fertilization, reports ABC7
A gunman killed Officers Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos while they were sitting in their squad car on December 20, 2014. After he was shot, Liu requested that his sperm be retrieved and frozen.
According to the New York Daily News, even after a murder, the sperm can be collected up to 24 hours after a death. The use of frozen sperm in IVF has a 70-80 percent success rate. The process is not cheap. The procedure costs anywhere from $25,000 to $40,000.
Pei Xei Sanny Chen gave birth to a healthy 6 lbs 13 oz. baby girl named Angelina. She told ABC7 the night her husband died, she dreamed her husband handed her a baby girl. Chen knew she would have a girl all along.
“I told my friend, ‘It’s going to be a baby girl.’ My friend said, ‘No, you haven’t even checked the sonograms,’ but I was right!”
