Police are searching for suspects in the fatal shooting of a teenager working for his dad and the serious injury to one other near Chicago.
ABC7 Chicago reports it happened during an armed robbery at a family owned gas station in suburban Dolton.
Arshad Vhora died at the scene and 55-year-old Bakar Saieed is hospitalized following surgery in serious condition.
Vhora was covering the shift for his father who was overseas at a wedding.
According to WGN, a suspect walked in and opened fire, hitting both victims. A vendor who was also there at the time was not hit. Authorities said no money was taken from the register. A $12,000 reward is being offered in the case.
“This is another act of senseless killing. As we know, it happens too often,” said Abdul Vhora, Arshad’s cousin said to ABC7. “He was the oldest of the family, a very intelligent kid. He was filling in for his father while his father was out of the country. His father is on his way back.”
