This has happened so often it’s become a pattern.
This time it was Taco Bell. Other times it has been some other outlets.
A medical student from the University of Pennsylvania had to look twice after he noticed on his receipt that he had been identified as Steve Chink.
In Young Lee said on his Facebook post that he told the cashier his name was Steve to avoid having to spell his real name.
“Our interaction was very ordinary and cordial even, until I saw my name on the receipt that read “STEVE CHINK”, said Lee. “I was so infuriated that I couldn’t help but to confront the cashier. When I confronted him, he said that there are three Steve’s in the restaurant so he needed to differentiate. It made me even more upset that he was protecting his case rather than apologizing so I lashed out and told him that it is extremely disrespectful to use such a derogatory slur. He eventually apologized, and although I was still very upset I decided to let the case go.”
Thinking the incident was now behind him, Lee said he became more infuriated when he heard the same cashier make jokes about the incident to his co-workers, again using the “C” word.
Lee admits he lost it and began to yell at the cashier. That’s when the manager apologized, according to Lee, but then berated Lee for being disrespectful for snatching his order out of the cashier’s hand.
Other customers who watched the incident then came to Lee’s defense, leading the manager to again apologize.
Lee told the Daily Pennsylvanian that he doesn’t wish any ill will toward the cashier.
“I don’t think the cashier was necessarily malicious about it. I think he was ignorant, but I want people to be more conscious about how they think, that’s more what I’m aiming for,” Lee said. “My goal is not to bring Taco Bell down.”
The Taco Bell outlet in Philadelphia has yet to publicly comment on the incident.
Similar incidents have happened at a New York cafe,at a CVS and a Starbucks.

RE: Customer Called “Chink” by Fast Food Cashier: He should bring them down and shout. Thanks for this site.
Customer Called Chink by Fast Food Cashier: I don’t know what this guy young lee is thinking, of course it was malicious. He really should have escalated it and the cashier should have been fired and the manager reprimanded by corporate, if not demoted. After their shift, the cashier and manager were probably both laughing at him.
RE: Customer Called “Chink” by Fast Food Cashier: So the employee got fired but the manager also needs to be demoted or fired as well for his oblivious handling of the situation.
re: Customer Called “Chink” by Fast Food Cashier: racial discrimination is occurring frequently, Tramp is to blame for this.
