Three men have been indicted by a federal grand jury in the bombing of a mosque in Minnesota in 2017, reports the News-Gazette.
The indictment against Michael Hari, 47, Michael McWhorter, 29, and Joe Morris, 23 were filed Wednesday, but not unsealed until Thursday. They face civil rights and hate crime violations in the firebombing of the the Dar al Farooq Islamic Center in Bloomington, MN.
They have also been charged in the attempted arson of the Women’s Health Practice in November.
According to the Bring Me the News Minnesota, the three men formed a militia group known as the White Rabbits. They had already been charged with arson in connection with the bombing of the mosque, but now also face civil rights and hate crime charges for allegedly “interfering with … free expression of religious liberty.”
The state alleges the three men carried out the attack for the “purpose of making Muslims feel frightened and intimidated.”
