Fresh off her roles in Crazy Rich Asians and Ocean’s 8, Awkwafina is set to host Saturday Night Live.
Bustle reports the rapper and actress is set to host the long running NBC program on October 6.
An Asian American woman hasn’t hosted Saturday Night Live since Lucy Liu in 2000-that’s just short of 18 years.
According to The Wrap, joining Awkwafina will be rapper Travis Scott.
SNL has been long criticized for its lack of diversity and reliance on yellowface casting over the years for cheap laughs, but has made an effort in the last two seasons to diversify its guest hosts.
Last season, Kumail Nanjiani of The Big Sick and Aziz Ansari hosted the program.
