A new dark comedy is in development for HBO that if picked up will feature all Asian leads, reports Refinery29
The series titled Ktown is based in Koreatown and is being produced by Jason Kim.
Greta Lee (seen in photo from HBO Girls )is set to star in the series and will play Yumi, a self-described Brentwood Barbie who reconnects with her Korean roots and becomes a powerful Korean American woman.
According to Variety, Kim’s credits include Barry, currently on HBO, Love on Netflix and Girls, also on HBO.
Refinery reports Kim met Lee while working together on Girls. Lee played Soojin on the show and Kim served as a writer. Lee’s other credits include St. Vincent, Sisters and Money Monster. She’s also appeared in a recurring role on CBS All Access’ The Good Fight, and previously played the female lead in Hulu’s Chance, according to Deadline.
