Hong Kong martial artist and actor Jackie Chan will executive produce Once Upon a Zodiac, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
The Rush Hour star will also lend his voice to the animated film, which is now in production in Toronto. He will be playing Zell, a charismatic and elderly cat sage, in a world where cats serve as stewards of the Zodiac that work to maintain traditions and balance between the other animals.
“We are proud to have Jackie Chan part of this film as an executive producer,” said Galen Walker, who is co-producing with Hong Kim. “We are captivated by Jackie Chan’s talent and the leadership that he brings to our animated film.”
The movie will follow the mystery-solving trio of a tiger, rat, and dragon—representing strength, smarts, and courage, according to CTV News.
Chan is no stranger to voice acting; he’s known for voicing Master Monkey in the Kung Fu Panda franchise and starring in his own animated series, Jackie Chan Adventures.
Once Upon a Zodiac is written by Daniel Persitz and Devon Kliger.
