Anti-immigrant flyers that have popped up in Queens have been linked to a White supremacist group, according to City Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer.
The Daily News reports he spotted the hateful signs while on a morning jog and immediately took it down.
Van Bramer said the flyers are tied to the group Vanguard America.
Within a couple of days, AMNY was reporting a non-profit put up signs of its own urging residents to “stand united against hate.”
The original flyer read “A notice to all citizens of the United States of America: It is your civic duty to report any and all illegal aliens to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. They have broken the law.”
“It sent chills through my body because it was ominous, it was dark and it was meant to intimidate immigrants,” Van Bramer said to CNN.
Saw this trash on #SkillmanAvenue during my a.m. run. Tore them up. We are a #SanctuaryCity & we need to be a sanctuary neighborhood. All Immigrants are welcome here. If you see these, feel free to take them down. Be a sanctuary neighbor. #QueensValues must trump #TrumpValues! pic.twitter.com/9mtuZeW1Cn

Vanguard America confirmed to the Daily News it was behind the flyer. The man charged with plowing his car into an anti-fascists protestors in Charlottesville, Va. last year was marching with Vanguard America at the time.
