A California couple is speaking out after they say an In-Vitro-Fertilization clinic mixed up one of their embryos and used it to impregnate a Korean American woman, reports NBC News.

Anni and Ashot Manukyan of Glendale successfully waged a custody battle against the New York couple and on Wednesday announced they would be suing the CHA Fertility in Los Angeles .

“I wasn’t there for his birth, I did not carry him, I did not feel him kick inside of me, I didn’t do the skin to skin, I didn’t breastfeed him,” Anni Manukyan told NBC News. “All of that was just robbed from me because of this company that messed up, you know.”

The lawsuit alleges an embryo belonging to a third family was also accidentally given to the Korean American couple.

Her husband Ashot stood by his wife’s side during a news conference.

“CHA put three families through a living hell, and our lives will never be the same,” Ashot Manukyan said to Fox 11. “We fought to get our boy back, and now we will fight to make sure this never happens again.”

Last week the Asian American couple, whose identities have not been made public, also filed a lawsuit against CHA which has so far not commented.

  1. RE: Couple speaks out about IVF mix up: Wait, am I reading this right? The woman who is suing, who was not impregnated, who did not carry baby to term, who did not labor wants the baby back from the Korean-Am couple who did all that?

  2. RE: Couple speaks out about IVF mix up: Yes. What about the Korean Am couple who thought they were having their own child?! That must have been heartbreaking!
