A search is being conducted this morning for a kidnapped toddler in Penn Hills, near Pittsburgh, reports WPXI.
The girl, Nalani Johnson, will turn two this month. She is described as Black with a light complexion, short curly black hair and brown eyes, and is of average height and weight. She goes by the nickname of “Mooh.”
Family friends told WPXI a woman named Sharena Islam Nancy drove away with the girl after her father and a friend exited the vehicle and walked around the rear to get Nalani out.
Police found Johnson and her vehicle in Penn Hills, where she was arrested, but said to be non cooperative. WTAE says Nancy has been charged with kidnapping, interference with custody of children, and concealment of whereabouts of a child.
Nancy, who police described as Indian American, told police the father sold Nalani to an unnamed individual for $10,000 and asked her to drive the girl away 20 minutes from Monroeville. Nancy claims to have given the girl to a person driving a silver SUV with out of state plates.
Police have not commented on Nancy’s story.
