Police this week announced an arrest in the brutal beating of two senior citizens in San Francisco’s Chinatown, reports ABC7 News.
The beating of two leaders in the Chinese community this summer lead to increased foot patrols and the installation of 18 additional security cameras.
Police credit surveillance video for the arrest of Desean Pearson, 19, who’s described as the lead suspect in the case. Two others remain outstanding.
“Two persons hold me up, beat me up. I don’t remember anything. Then I fell down on the street,” recalled Walter Wong of the Wong Family Association, one of the two victims. He ended up unconscious on the ground as the suspects made off with his gold Rolex watch.
Angry residents would later voice frustration at a community meeting. Today they say they are grateful for the police persistence in pursuing this case.
