A reporter who called out Charles Barkley for jokingly threatening violence against her is now herself apologizing for racist tweets from her past made about Asians.
Axios Reporter Alexi McCammond tweeted about her interaction with Charles Barkley. After she questioned the NBA Hall of Famer about seemingly contradictory statements he’s made about presidential candidates, she said Barkley threatened violence against her.
She said Barkley told her ‘ “I don’t hit women but if I did I would hit you,”
“Threats of violence are not a joke and no person deserves to be hit or threatened like that, she said.
Barkley immediately issued an apology through Turner Sports, saying it was an attempted joke that wasn’t funny at all. There’s no excuse for it and I apologize.”
It didn’t take long for social media to dig up dirt on McCammond.
Back in 2011, she made a joke about waking up with Asian eyes on Twitter.
Other tweets found from her days as a student include “outdone by Asian. #WhatsNew” and “give me a 2/10 on my chem problem, cross out all my work and don’t explain what I did wrong. Thanks a lot stupid Asian T.A. You’re great.”
McCammond found herself apologizing for her mistakes.
