A diverse group of students occupied the Admissions Office at Harvard demanding the creation of an Ethnic Studies Department, reports the Crimson.
Students held signs reading “After you admit us don’t forget us” and “Want diversity? Teach our histories!”
Among those who spoke was Catherine Ho, who also testified in support of Harvard’s raced-based admissions program and against an unsuccessful lawsuit charging Harvard discriminated against Asian Americans.
“I am tired of Harvard using my story without giving me ethnic studies so I can fully understand what my story even means,” Ho said.
It was the second sit-in this month at Harvard. Earlier this month, they also protested the denial of tenure to a Latinx professor, Lorgia García Peña,
According to The College Fix, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Claudine Gay sent out an email earlier this week to the University saying Harvard had a “strong institutional commitment” to create an ethnic studies program.
