Bravo TV will be bringing the first US reality series with an all-Indian cast to the screen in March, reports TV Series Finale.
A first-look trailer just dropped for Family Karma, focused on seven Indian American friends—Shaan Patel, Bali Chainani, Anisha Ramakrishna, Monica Vaswani, Brian Benni, Vishal Parvani, and Amrit Kapai—as they experience adulthood together with their families.
According to Parvani, all seven families immigrated to America, specifically Florida, a state where Indian Americans make up the largest Asian ethnic group, according to BEBR and The Times of India.
“Our parents basically founded this community,” he says. “They had arranged marriages; we had arranged friendships.”
“Growing up in traditional, multigenerational households, this group is bonded by their strong cultural ties and vibrant Miami social lives,” reads a description from Bravo. “With parents and grandparents instilling their cherished customs, and adult children who are drifting more towards the ‘American Way,’ the two worlds collide in the most unexpected ways. These friends are determined to live life to the fullest, navigate the pressures of being in adulthood, while maintaining their deep-rooted ties to an incredible culture.”

As a second gen Desi, this is both hilarious and freaking awful at the same time. Also, I don’t know who these people are supposed to represent. ???♀️ Shah’s of Sunset, Indian style. #FamilyKarma https://t.co/cHqb2p7tKg

I’m either going to absolutely love this and feel so represented finally seeing Indians showcased on TV or I’m going to be hella annoyed if it’s stereotypical. Guess we shall see! #FamilyKarma https://t.co/vrK0C3sFE8

Some serious drama is definitely expected, as tensions flare between the friends in the trailer.
