The Mouse, the music, and the Mars: Disney and the Hawaiian-born Grammy winner are teaming up to produce a music-centered film, ENews announced last week.
Bruno Mars took to Twitter to notify fans, playing a piano cover of “When You Wish Upon a Star” from Disney’s Pinocchio.
Although details about the plot and release date are currently unknown, Mars will perform and produce in the “music-themed theatrical narrative,” according to Deadline. It will feature original songs by Mars, who is an 11-time Grammy Award winner with 27 nominations under his belt. The 34-year-old was the best-selling artist in 2012 and has sold over 200 million singles worldwide as of 2018.
This will not be the first time Mars has acted. He played a small role as Little Elvis in the 1992 film Honeymoon in Vegas, and he provided the voice in Disney’s Rio 2 in 2014. However, this new project will mark Mars’ “first major film role,” according to Grammy.com.
