A 56-year old suspect surrendered Sunday in the attack and robbery of an Asian man collecting cans in San Francisco, reports ABC 7 News.
Jonathan Amerson turned himself in at the Bayview Police Station Sunday morning.
Both suspects are now in custody in the case. Police arrested 20-year-old Dwayne Grayson on Thursday. Authorities say he videotaped himself in the incident.
“While arrests have been made,” police said, “this remains an open investigation,” according to NBC Bay Area. Anderson faces charges of two counts of robbery and two counts of elder abuse. Authorities say this is the second time Anderson has robbed the same victim of his recycles.
“This arrest is the direct result of cooperation and assistance from the community and efforts by officers assigned to Bayview Police Station and the Special Investigations Division who have been working tirelessly to identify the involved parties,” authorities said.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help the victim who was collecting cans as a means of making ends meet. In just one day, more than $38,000 had been raised as of this morning. The non-profit Community Youth Center organized the fundraising effort.
