The first Vietnamese Americans have died of COVID-19, confirms the Vietnamese Embassy in the United States.
VNExpress reports the two both died in Washington state at two separate nursing homes. One, a 74-year-old woman, died in Seattle. According to Vietnam Up, doctors suspected she had contracted the virus and admitted her to the hospital where she died after a one week stay.
The other’s gender has not been revealed, but is described as blind. She came down with a fever and died 24 hours after being admitted into intensive care.
VNExpress reports Vietnam has so far recorded 76 infected cases, but no deaths.
