A New York photographer mourning the loss of his mother due to COVID encountered the rage of another man while waiting in line at a local Walgreen.
“My mom passed away from COVID less than a week ago,” said Charles Wang on Facebook. “I was in line to pay for a photo for my mom’s funeral. Everyone is suffering. This is a pandemic. Everyone lost someone,” he said.
A man behind him was down on his knees mumbling something that could not be heard on camera, but Wang felt compelled to begin videotaping him. That man then got up and began talking to a woman in front of him.
“I told you my sister died. My sister died over that COVID sh*t that f*cking Chinese brought here which is pretty f*cked up, you know.”
Wang was incredulous about what was happening right next to him.
“How is this acceptable by any place of business,” Wang continued on Facebook. “Letting this guy make racist rants, not covering his face, not keeping 6 feet away from me. And the people who work there was completely fine with it.”
The incident was not over. The irate man turned behind him and began talking to another patron.
“You know what, we’re going to war with them(China),” he said. “I’m a United States Marine. I’m 33. I’m going back over there. I can’t wait to go back over there.”

RE: Grieving photographer whose mom just died of coronavirus forced to listen to racist rant: We really have to speak up when this happens. Inform. Empathize. Educate. Correct. Engage when safe. This guy was also hurting and misplacing his anger, his sadness and powerlessness over death. You all know that it was travelers from Europe who brought Covid to the US?
