A waitress being cheered for scolding a racist and then kicking him out for verbally attacking an Asian American family celebrating a birthday says she only did what came instinctively.
Gennica Cochran is a yoga instructor who has also worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years.
You need to leave right now, get out, you are not allowed here, get out now, you do not talk to our guests like that, they are valued guests, you are not allowed here ever again,” she screamed to Michael Lofthouse who called the Orosa Chan family an “Asian piece of sh*t.”
When she views the tape of the incident, she has trouble believing that was her, but told ABC7 News “I just did what needed to be done.”
“I’m not a mother, but I felt almost maternal,” she said. “Right, like this is my family and I will take care of them and I will do whatever I can to protect these people. To have someone hate you just because of the way that you look, that’s beyond me. I don’t understand it.”
Cochran’s actions have touched the nation, if not the world. There are three separate Go Fund Me pages set up to reward her. They have so far generated more than $30,000. She says she’ll donate some of the money to charity and is considering giving some of the money to distressed service workers.

“I will always speak up for you,” she says to the Orosa Chan family through the media. “Please come back to Bernardus, I’d love to buy you a drink.”
