Police Saturday announced the arrest of a 60-year-old man accused in the death of professional poker player Suzie Zhao.
The Detroit Free Press reports authorities found the suspect’s vehicle Friday in White Lake Township in Michigan and took him into custody.
The name of the Pontiac, MI man has not yet been released. Investigators believe the killer burned the body, although the exact cause of death is not yet known. Zhao body was discovered in a state land park area in White Town Ship.
Authorities told the New York Post Zhao’s body appeared to have been burned where it was found.
She recently moved to Michigan to be with her parents after living for years in California and Las Vegas.
“It’s hard to picture her having enemies,” former roommate Yuval Bronshtein said to the Post.
“Nobody ever remembers her fighting with anybody ever — no conflict, no drama,” said one of Zhao’s friends, Michelle Lagrou.
Zhao is known to many as Suzie Q and thrived in a professional poker circuit dominated by men.
“I proficiently play high stakes poker for a living. It’s kinda weird because I’m a girl,” she once said.
